New Communion

What does communion mean to you? It alway amazes me how we become caught up in how communion is done rather than what it means. First Congregational Albany passes out trays of broken bread and small cups of grape juice. Over at the Roman Catholic Church, they dip the bread (called intinction) and somewhere in the area I’m sure there are people who go up and kneel at a rail. All of these mean to make us present with Jesus as he sacrifices himself in love of God and love of us.
This coming Sunday, we’re going to try communion in a little different way. We’ll have a light breakfast, sing hymns, pray, listen and discuss scripture and then share of the things on the table a communion that remembers that this is just what Jesus did: took what was there, what God had provided, and made it something eternal.Come share communion, come share his love!
